SAGE with IASP ‘Pain Management in Nursing Practice’ (S. Wright) Book Royalties Award

From the beginning of this textbook project, the intention has been to donate the Royalties received from sales of Pain Management in Nursing Practice to  Continuing Nurse Education in the area of pain management.

The ‘Pain Management in Nursing Practice’ Book Royalties Award was inaugurated at the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Irish Pain Society (IPS) 26th August, 2017 by SAGE, IPS, and Shelagh Wright to fund one postgraduate Pain Nurse’s Registration fee to attend the Biennial World Congress of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP).

.Eligibility and how to apply

Only Irish Pain Society Nurse members are eligible to apply for the SAGE with IASP Book Royalties Award Fund.

Call details have been circulated to Nurse Members of the Irish Pain Society who are invited to apply now for SAGE with IASP Book Royalties Award funding for Registration for One Nurse  for the IASP 2020 World Congress on Pain, Amsterdam  4th-8th August.

Applicants are asked to outline in no more than 500 words why this Award would be helpful  within the context of Pain Management to their  Nursing Practice.

Applications will be assessed by a Non-Nursing Judging Panel comprised of  Committee Members of the Irish Pain Society, who will mark for relevance, within the context of pain management, to

  • nursing research and /or practice;
  • personal professional development in nursing and/ or
  • advancing scope of pain- management in nursing practice within the healthcare setting.

The Abstract Submission Deadline is Monday 10th February, 2020 . The Award Winner will be notified by end of February to meet the IASP 2020 World Congress on Pain  Early Bird Registration deadline of 18th March. The Award Winner will receive the  fund electronically, through the IPS Treasurer.

The Award Winner will feature in the IPS20ASM Conference Book.

The Award has Legal oversight  and the Judging procedure is Transparent and Accountable.

The first award from the fund covered the Registration fee (usually about €700-€800) for the  17th  IASP World Congress on Pain in Boston, Massachusetts, USA from 12-16 September, 2018. The Winner was featured in IPS18ASM Conference Book
